The 5th Annual Santa’s Hot Chocolate Run 5K / 1 mile will be held on Saturday, December 1, 2018.
The run will begin and end at the Central School Arts & Humanities Center. The 5K course includes Lake Shore Dr., Shell Beach Dr., Watkins St., and Dr. Michael DeBakey Drive. After a trek down 7th St. and a left turn onto Bank St., the race ends just past Pujo and Reid Streets. Santa’s Hot Chocolate Run also includes a side walk 1 miler around the center’s oak tree lined grounds.
Registration is now open and is $30 through October 31st. Students enrolled in K – 12 may register for $25. Students below age 11 may run for free with a paying adult (a run bib will be $5). Team registration is also available. Teams who register 10 or more members by November 1st will be listed on the run t-shirt.
This year’s race has expanded participation age groups to include three finishers groups below age 13. The top three finishers in each group will earn a finisher’s medal. There will also be fun awards including best Santa costume, best tutu, scavenger hunt awards, and raffle drawing winners.
Santa’s Hot Chocolate Run is a family friendly event. There will be a kids zone beginning at 8am.
The run is open to runners, walkers, joggers and spectators. Proceeds from the event benefit the Literacy Council of Southwest Louisiana, Inc.
